Street Action Gudelines:
Day of Discord 2009
Theme: Cargo Cult (wikipedia has a good entry if you need some background)
Attire: Yuppy-Primitivist. Examples: Ill-fitting or tattered business suit jacket over animal-print loin-cloth. Talismans/amulets featuring crude representations of corporate logos. Those in female clothing could consider wearing brightly colored, poorly applied make-up.
Cargo: Crudely made facsimiles of technology or pop culture items. Examples: Cardboard cell-phone with drawn/painted on buttons. Paper coffee cup with hand-drawn Starbucks logo.
Ritual phrase(s): One or more easily memorized phrase(s) to go with your cargo that will allow the nature of your cargo to be easily identified. Example: If your cargo is an ipod, your ritual phrase might be a common ipod advertising slogan.
When formulating ideas for your cargo and attire, bear in mind that while we are going for a yuppy-primitivist look, we are trying to mock corporate/pop culture, not make caricatures of tribal/indigenous peoples.

If you would rather not dress up in silly costumes, you can still come down and be a part of the action by being our ready-made audience. Don't forget to bring your camera! We'd love to have some documentation of the ritual as well as audience reactions.
